  • The Indian Patent Office had granted 7,539 patents in 2006-2007. In 2007-2008, the number of patents granted was more than doubled to 15,262 patents. This is almost eight times the number of patents granted in 2004-2005 (1,911). During 2007-2008, more than 35,000 patent applications were filed.
